Agency Information

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provides supportive, preventive, protective, public health and intervention services that protect the public health and assist our customers in meeting their needs; and assists families in providing for the developmental, health, and safety needs of their children. DHHS strives to provide these programs and services while respecting the rights and preferences of individuals and families.

The Division of Licensing and Regulatory Services administers most of the Department's licensing functions, and is focused on improving efficiency and effectiveness while reducing administrative burdens and eliminating duplication of effort for the service providers who are subject to licensing.


Job Duties

This is professional services work in planning, coordinating, monitoring, and implementing social services provided through an assigned program or service area. This position is responsible for licensing Assisted Housing and Adult Day Services Programs. Typical duties include conducting surveys and complaint investigations; providing technical assistance to licensees; making recommendations on licensing actions; and documenting licensing activities. Responsibilities also include providing program administrative support; reviewing contracts; monitoring licensing procedures; overseeing service delivery functions; planning for and developing policies; and administering services for the target population. Work is performed under limited supervision.

Requirements

(Entry level knowledge, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience).
Six (6) years of education and/or professional experience in social services casework, social services program development/delivery, or social services-related fiscal/budget administration/analysis work.

Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements: (This must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).
A Licensed Social Worker (LSW) license, as issued by the Maine State Board of Social Worker Licensure.
