Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center is a 54 bed psychiatric hospital serving the entire State's geographic area that provides services for people with severe mental illness.
Job Duties
DDPC Attending Psychiatrists are independently licensed physicians with a specialty in psychiatry who are responsible to provide direct patient care and treatment as well as clinical leadership in the hospital. The position provides patient care consistent with hospital privileges. Responsibilities may include both inpatient and outpatient services with a primary focus on direct patient care and treatment.
It is expected that the person in this position will be flexible and adaptable within the scope of his/her practice to meet the needs of the patients. The omission of specific statement of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or is a logical assignment to the position.
Requirements
Possession of a current license to practice medicine in the State of Maine and National Board Certification in medical specialty.
Successful graduation from an approved school of medicine or osteopathy;
Successful completion of an approved accredited psychiatric residency;
Possession of a current, active and unrestricted Federal DEA certificate
*Possession of a National Board Certification in Psychiatry
Current license to practice medicine in the State of Maine. Certification by National Certification Board
Only post-secondary degrees from a College or University whose accreditation has been granted from a nationally recognized accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education will satisfy educational requirements. Information can be obtained at
