The Office of Administrative Hearings administers hearings related to child support, medical eligibility determinations, eligibility for Food Stamps, MaineCare, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Emergency Assistance, ASPIRE, General Assistance and licensing matters, and more.

Job Duties

Riverview Psychiatric Center is currently recruiting for a Director of Nursing to provide professional services work as a member of Riverview's senior management team and will have the administrative responsibility to plan, organize, develop and direct the provision of nursing services in accordance with all applicable legal and regulatory standards. Emphasis is placed upon evidence based nursing practice, process efficiency and fiscal responsibility. The Director of Nursing reports to the Superintendent.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
• Demonstrates commitment to the hospital mission, vision and values and serves as a role model for staff;
• Creates a philosophy of client care and a model for care delivery that is consistent with the hospital mission, vision and values;
• Contributes to and supports a culture of collaboration and integration that enhances the provision of excellent client treatment and improved client satisfaction and provides a safe employee and client treatment environment;
• Actively supports creativity and innovation;
• Actively coordinates nursing services with other disciplines to build and support multidisciplinary team treatment for clients;
• Serves as a member of the Riverview senior management team;
• Provides the administrative oversight and direction to nurse managers, nursing supervisors, admissions, infection control and nursing PI;
• Serves on and attends various committees of the hospital, as assigned;
• Monitors departmental expenses and resource use;
• Conducts investigations of special incidents, as assigned;
• With hospital leadership ensures regulatory compliance;
• Creates complex reports as required using Word and/or Excel software.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: In order to qualify, candidates must have a Bachelors Degree in Nursing; a graduate degree in Nursing or Business is highly preferred. Ten years of progressive responsibility in nursing with a minimum of five years of supervisory experience is required. A minimum of three years experience in a psychiatric setting is required. Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Maine is required. Also required are:

• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills;
• Demonstrated experience with healthcare organizational processes;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
