The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provides supportive, preventive, protective, public health and intervention services which protect the public health and assist our customers and caregivers in meeting their needs; and that assist families in providing for the developmental, health and safety needs of their children. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Office is responsible for providing leadership and active partnership in Maine's comprehensive system of support to communities and individuals with substance use and mental health conditions across the prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery system across the lifespan. One position based in the following locations: Lewiston, Bangor and Portland
Job Duties
As an Intervention Specialist, you will provide oversight of a regional, forensic intensive case management team including intervention services, contract monitoring and technical assistance. You will assure service continuity and fidelity through supervision of the regional intensive case management team and collaboration with community providers specific to contract execution and service delivery. You will plan, organize, assign, direct and monitor the work of intensive case managers to ensure established quality state-wide service standards are effective and maintained. You will review, examine and evaluate program goals, objectives, plans, information and service related materials to identify issues and enhance service provision through proactive solution implementation for an effective statewide program. You will develop and recommend new and revised laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures in order to improve program performance. You will design, organize, and implement training and orientation programs to ensure effective conveyance of information. You will supervise staff and report on staff performance in order to ensure overall conformity to established program policies and quality standards.
Requirements
In order to qualify, you must have an eight (8) year combination of education and/or professional experience in mental health or a related human services field. Preference will be given to those candidates with a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field. Preference will also be given to those candidates with independent licensure (LCSW, LCPC, LCSW-CC or LCPC/C) and knowledge and experience of adults experiencing mental illness within forensic settings or in the community.

1. Please describe your experience with forensic services and populations.
2. Please describe your experience in an adult mental health and/or social service programs requiring planning, evaluation and collaboration with state, public and/or private agencies.
3. Please summarize your experience supervising employees. You should include information about the number of job titles of employees you supervised and dates of supervision, and whether this experience included interview and selection, performance management, and employee discipline.
4. Please describe your leadership attributes including: coaching and mentoring, team-building, delegation, holding self and others accountable, and effective decision-making and professional integrity.
5. Describe your experience in developing, recommending, and implementing program policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
