Senator Nutting Hopes to Shrink State Government with Bill

Augusta—The Legislature’s State and Local Government Committee, Wednesday, will hold a work session on a bill sponsored by State Senator John Nutting, D-Androscoggin County, Wednesday, that seeks to establish a bipartisan commission to identify cuts to state government. The commission would investigate and identify major sources of administrative excess, redundancy, inefficiency and program overlap with other state, local or federal programs.
Senator Nutting believes the bill could identify $30 million in annual savings.
