The "Employee of the Year Awards" honors outstanding employees from all state agencies. This year, on Oct. 30, 2009, Governor John Baldacci honored Janet McKenney from the Maine State Library along with other agencies' honorees.
McKenney’s superb technical and teaching skills have enriched the world of Maine libraries. Her attention to the complex rules, staggering paperwork, and detail involved in submitting a federal e-rate application for 235 libraries to gain telecommunications discounts is phenomenal. She is invaluable.
The Maine State Library has many outstanding employees. I look forward to nominating an employee of the year each year that I serve as the State Librarian.
