The summer of 1968 -
I was just 9 that year. I can remerber going to Nanna's house in South Addison. My grandparents lived in a big farm house on the ocean with plenty of room for family to visit. My cousins had just returned from Okinowa, Japan. We had plenty of things to do outside with the woods & ocean to explore nearby. We played on the sandy beach jumping the cold atlantic water. It was a lot colder than I was used to living in southern New England. We would wait for low tide then go looking for water bugs left in the tidal pools in the rocks on the point. If it was cold & raining we would spend our time reading the old comic books Nanna had - little lulu, donald duck, baby huey, mickey mouse to name a few. I can still remember waking up and cooking toast on Nanna's stove, home made bread with home made strawberry jam. Now that my Nanna & Grandpa are gone, my mind wanders back to a simpler time...
