[01] MLTI 2012 IMAGE
All schools should have received a box containing the DVDs for the 2012 MLTI Image. If you have not received this box, please call the Apple MLTI Project Office at 207-688-4501. This MLTI image is Mac OS X 10.6.8 and includes Java security fixes and new and updated applications including Chipmunk Basic and Geogebra 4.
We have also released two updates that you can download in the MLTI Studywiz 207 TC group:
MLTI 2012 Image Updater 001
This package is recommended for all 2012 MLTI MacBooks and addresses a few minor housekeeping issues, as well as a cosmetic issue with the 1to1 Backup Utility. This package can be installed directly, via Apple Remote Desktop, or as part of the restore process.
Restore Drive Creator
If you are experiencing any issues with creating the restore drive from the DVD media, we have released an updated version of the Restore Drive Creator app which may help address those issues. The updated Restore Drive Creator app is available for download in the MLTI Studywiz 207 TC group.
There is also a new Restore Service for Apple Remote Desktop available for download in the MLTI Studywiz 207 TC group that can help with the imaging process. As always, if you are having any issues with drive creation or imaging, please call the MLTI Help Desk at 800-919-2775 pin# 4MLTI and escalate if necessary.
[02] MLTI 2012 IMAGE PASSWORDS
If you did not receive the MLTI 2012 MacBook image passwords at the Tech Lead sessions, please call the Apple MLTI Project Office at 207-688-4501. You must be listed as the Tech Lead or Principal in the Asset Manager to obtain the passwords. You can localize your passwords during restore drive setup when prompted, or later by modifying the passwords.txt file in the Extras folder and moving it and the Password Changer Package from the Extras folder to the Packages folder on the restore drive. You will still need the default administrator password in the event that a device is returned to you from the depot with a newly imaged hard drive.
[03] MULTIPLE DISPATCH FORM
You may process up to 25 single, non-top case only repairs at once without calling the help desk by using the Multiple Dispatch Form link in Depotworks. To access this link, please log into https://www.belldepots.com and click on the "Multiple Dispatch Form" link on the Dispatch page.
NOTE: If you need special repair assistance, including bulk top case repair, please submit your request via the "Having issues or want to send feedback?" link in the lower right corner of any DepotWorks screen.
[04] BULK TOP CASE REPAIR REMINDER
If you have 20 or more top case only repairs and have not received a participation packet, please do not create dispatches in DepotWorks for these. Instead, submit your request for bulk top case repair by using the "Having issues or want to send feedback?" link in the lower right corner of any DepotWorks screen. We will then make custom arrangements to use 5-pack boxes and a bulk pickup with FedEx Freight. Arrangements are being made until July 31st and units are being repaired on a first come, first serve basis. So, don't delay!
[05] NON-WARRANTY QUOTES NOT TO EXCEED $450
During the summer, non-warranty quotes will not be issued in excess of $450 as they will be considered cost-prohibitive. Instead, you will be given the option to:
-Submit a buffer replacement request
-Arrange for a replacement device for $450 from the Department
-Request return of the device without repair
[06] NON-WARRANTY PRE-APPROVED PO
If you are sending in a known non-warranty issue for repair, you may opt to provide a PO with your dispatch to cover the cost of that repair. By doing so, you will save time by not having to wait for a quote from the depot or for them to receive your response prior to performing the repair. A full quote will still be generated for your records.
Since non-warranty quotes for repair will not be issued for an amount greater than $450, you can ensure that any pre-approved PO will not be billed for more than $450.
To participate, you must enter this exact language in the Additional Comments section of the DepotWorks dispatch created per device. Any other wording will not be accepted.
“PO pre-approved for non-warranty repair of asset not to exceed $450.”

[09] MLTI PACK-O-MATIC, A NEW TOOL FOR 2012
MLTI Pack-o-Matic is designed for those times when you need to make a simple package of a drag-and-drop style application, a shell script, or a 3rd party package that doesn't install correctly over ARD or in the MLTI image restore workflow.
Simply run MLTI Pack-o-Matic and browse to, or drag and drop, the application, script, or 3rd party package into the window. MLTI Pack-o-Matic detects the type of file and will build an installer package in the location you specify.
Application packages will install the application in the target /Applications folder.
Scripts create a no payload installer that run the script as a postinstall action.
Packages create a self destructing launchd installer that runs on reboot on the target system.
Pack-o-Matic is currently available for download in the MLTI Studywiz 207 TC group.
