Gender Equity in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM): Research, Issues, and Strategies
An Academic and Experiential Workshop for K-12 Educators on the beautiful Maine coast at Coastal Studies for Girls!
Join in a day of learning and discussion with fellow educators, gaining a fresh perspective on gender equity in STEM and how to encourage and support girls in the classroom:
- Share personal experiences of successes and challenges in the classroom
- Hear about the current status of women in STEM fields and the role of education in making change
- Gain a new perspective on strategies to increase participation of females in STEM courses and careers
- Participate in a marine science field investigation as a teaching model to engage female learners
- Learn about the history of "scientific sexism", gender and neurology, and the challenges of gender equity in STEM
- Take home a packet of materials and strategies to use in the classroom
