More Information: Returning Extra MLTI Devices

Published:October 11, 2011

This MLTI message is intended for Superintendents, Principals, Technical Leads, and Teacher Leaders.

Last Friday, the MLTI Project Office at the DOE sent an email to schools to identify extra/unallocated devices and return them to the Enrollment Pool. In that email we promised to follow up with more information that wasn't available last Friday.

Highlights from the email included:

1. Schools have until October 31, 2011 to identify extra/unallocated devices AND complete the EXTRAS SURVEY. Schools also have until October 31 to assign their devices in the MLTI Asset Manager.
2. This year, schools can drop off extras to the MLTI booth at the ACTEM MainEducation Conference in Augusta. Extras will be accepted on Friday, 10/14/11 ONLY. Please complete the Extras Survey to let us know how many you will be bringing to the MLTI booth.
3. To provide a baseline for inventory, we provided the number of staff devices that were on the original 2009 - 2011 device orderd, along with the number of Spare devices each school should have, based on those orders. (Note: these numbers did not take into account any incoming or outgoing transfers that have occurred in the Asset Manager since the orders were placed.)
4. After October 15th, the DOE will start comparing assets against enrollment, using a formula that is now posted on the Enrollment Pool site. This information is used to determine billing for each school, which can result in a credit balance or a cost increase.

Since we sent the email last Friday, our office has received many questions that can be answered by visiting the New Enrollment Pool web site

The Enrollment Pool page provides an overview of how the pool works (including locations), the process for collecting/returning extra (unallocated) devices (including a link to the Extras Survey), and the formula we use to determine billing.

In the coming weeks, we will take stock, review the responses to the Extras survey, and then get in touch with the schools who responded to the survey to help them connect with their chosen Enrollment Pool.

If your school did not receive an email from the MLTI Project Office last Friday, please contact us at the DOE by sending an email to MLTI Project Office. (We use the Contact Information in the MLTI Asset Manager to send emails. If your school hasn't contacted us recently to have your information updated, it's likely our message to your school bounced back due to outdated contact information.)

If you have any other questions that weren't addressed here or on the Enrollment Pool site, please email the MLTI Project Office.

Thank you,

The MLTI Team
