September 19, 2012
For the second year in a row, the Maine Forest Service Incident Management Team (IMT) organized a statewide Landowner Appreciation Clean-up Day (LACD) on Saturday, September 15th. Governor LePage officially proclaimed that day as “LACD” to show Maine’s private landowners that Maine residents appreciate access to their land for outdoor recreation. The event was an overwhelming success with more than 31 tons of garbage and nearly 800 discarded tires collected and disposed of at local transfer stations. Approximately 40 Forest Rangers participated in the event along with 179 volunteers from ATV / snowmobile clubs, the Boy Scouts, local fish and game clubs and the Penobscot Job Corp. Executive Directors from SWOAM and MSA also participated in the event. |
