The 2010 prevailing wage rates for construction have been published and are available for download on the Maine Department of Labor website at: www.maine.gov/labor/labor_stats/publications/wagerateconst.
The report provides the median wage by county for different construction related occupations. Maine law requires construction employers to pay the prevailing wage or higher on any state-funded construction project projected to cost $50,000 or more. The law is similar to the Federal Davis-Bacon Act, which provides wages standards for federally-funded contracts.
The Maine regulation was recently amended to also require contractors to report proof of Workers’ Compensation coverage to the contracting agency on any state-funded construction project.
