Maine Apprenticeship Program 2007 Annual Report

Summary
The period of this report is from January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007. During that period, the Maine Apprenticeship Committee (MAC), through the efforts of its Director of Apprenticeship Standards and Apprenticeship Representatives at the local CareerCenters, registered 112 new Apprenticeship Programs.
A total of 72 Pre-Apprentices and 350 Apprentices were registered into those programs. The 350 Apprentices represents a 265% increase in registrations over the 2006 period. Certificates of Completion were awarded to 38 Pre-Apprentices and 30 Apprentices upon completion of their programs. Active Pre-Apprentices and Apprentices at the end of the period were 93 and 745 respectively. The program served a total of 988 Maine citizens in all 16 counties. There were 230 active Sponsors at the end of the year. Apprenticeship Programs are at least one year and as many as five or more years long.
For all programs, the average beginning wage is $11.09 and the average completion (journeyworker) wage is $18.12. The Return on Investment (ROI) calculation seen at the end of the attachment ($28,407,341.41) to this report represents $49 for every dollar invested in the Apprenticeship budget.
