December 26, 2012

AUGUSTA – Maine State Rep. Jeremy Saxton, D-Harpswell, has been appointed to serve on the Marine Resources Committee.

The committee works on policy relating Department of Marine Resources, commercial marine fisheries management, licensing and enforcement, processing and sale of marine fish and shellfish, and aquaculture.

“I am pleased to have been appointed to the Marine Resources Committee,” Saxton said. “In my district, commercial fisheries are an economic driver and I want to ensure the health of this important industry.”

Rep. Saxton is a first-term legislator and represents the towns of Harpswell, Phippsburg, and part of West Bath.

Rep. Saxton was selected to serve on the committee by Speaker of House Mark Eves. The legislature has 16 joint standing committees, which will begin work in early January. A list of committee members can be found at 126th Legislature.
