FALMOUTH – State Rep. Mary Nelson, D-Falmouth, attended the Women, Work and Community’s New Ventures graduation on Nov. 16 at PeoplesChoice Credit Union in Saco to show support for her constituent, Elizabeth Burke, owner of English for Business Success, who presented a business plan.
Nelson listened to many business plans and offered words of encouragement. New Ventures graduation is the completion of a 60-hour entrepreneurship training course that helps budding entrepreneurs write a business plan through exercises in research, attending lectures and preparing cash flow projections.
The New Ventures business planning course was facilitated by Gigi Guyton, Microenterprise Coordinator for Maine Centers for Women, Work, and Community's Southern Region. The Maine Centers for Women, Work, and Community is a statewide training organization helping Maine women and men succeed in their workplace, business and community.
Offerings include both one-on-one assistance and classes in four program areas - building your career, starting your own business, managing your money, and becoming a leader. All programs offered at Women, Work, and Community centers across the state are free.
