Real World Design Challenge AnnouncementNovember 9, 2009, 2:00 PM Governor’s Office The Governor will join officials from the Real World Design Challenge, the Federal Aviation Administration, businesses, the Steering Committee of the AeroSpace Alliance and high school and post-secondary educators for the announcement that Maine has been chosen to be a participating state in the 2010 Real World Design Challenge. Focused on the STEM disciplines, the Challenge enables participating high school students to compete in-state (with a winner going to a national competition) on this year’s engineering design challenge relating to fuel efficiency in aviation. The goal of the program is to build the engineering workforce of the future, including areas of the emerging “green” sector.
