Welcome to the newly redesigned site of the Office of the Governor! I am pleased to unveil new and exciting features. I anticipate that this site will be a wonderful means of communication, and I look forward to hearing from you.
The people of Maine are well-known for their work ethic, innovativeness, and deep sense of community. These are some of the reasons I am honored to be your Governor. As I meet the people I serve, I am consistently reminded why Maine is the best place in the world to live, work, visit, and raise a family.
Mainers care about their natural environment, and we are national leaders in energy and environmental policy. Mainers recognize the value of education, and we make life-long learning a priority. And Mainers care about each other, and we demonstrate this on our own soil, during the Ice Storm of 98 or the York County Floods of May 2006; across our country, during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita; and around the globe, where Maine servicemen and -women dedicate themselves to our freedoms.
I am grateful for the hospitality, generosity, and openness the people of Maine demonstrate every day, and I look forward to continuing the dialogue I hear everywhere I go: Maine people are committed to ensuring that Maine remains "the way life should be."
