State of Emergency Declaration

WHEREAS, Hurricane Irene is threatening the Northeast United States, including the State of Maine;

WHEREAS, the health, safety, and welfare of Maine residents are imperiled;

WHEREAS, the resources of many municipalities and counties are limited and may be exhausted in the course of responding to this storm; and

WHEREAS, the resources of the State may be necessary to support and assist any affected counties and communities;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul R. LePage, Governor of the State of Maine, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the State of Maine, hereby declare a State of Emergency.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have caused the Great Seal of the State to be hereunto affixed GIVEN under my hand at Augusta this 26 day of August Two Thousand and Eleven.
