Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter Groundbreaking Ceremony
Location: Pleasant Street Methodist Church, 61 Pleasant Street, Waterville

Background

Governor Paul LePage will deliver remarks at the ceremony and congratulate everyone involved with the campaign to build the new Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter. The Governor has been involved with the Mid-Maine Homeless shelter for many years dating back to the 90's.

In its 21 years, the Shelter has helped rebuild the lives of over 6,000 Mid-Maine adults and children. Its success centers around community support and the Action Plan for independent living it requires guests to complete.

Domestic Violence Awareness Day at the State House
Location: State House, Hall of Flags

Background

The Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence will be holding a news conference which will focus on how men can take a stand against domestic violence. MCEDV will be featuring student athletes from the University of Maine and will promote the various resource centers available for victims. The Governor will deliver remarks.

Domestic Violence Legislation Announcement
Location: State House, Hall of Flags

Background

Governor LePage will unveil details about his proposed domestic violence legislation. Speakers include Governor LePage, Public Safety Commissioner John Morris, Democrat Minority Leader Emily Cain and Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence Executive Director Julia Colpitts.

Background

The Governor and members of his Cabinet will participate in a town hall meeting with citizens from Madison and surrounding towns. The event is free and open to the public and media.
