November 6, 2009
AUGUSTA – Governor John E. Baldacci has learned of the death of Ival “Bud” Cianchette, one of the founders of Cianbro. Bud and his brothers, Carl, Ken and Chuck, started the construction company in 1949 and just recently celebrated the 60th year of operation.
The Governor said that Bud was a problem solver and a man deeply devoted to family, business and community.
“Bud and his brothers built their family business from scratch, and through difficult times they persevered and grew their company to one of the most successful construction companies in the country, with a reputation for quality workmanship and commitment to excellence at every level,” said Governor Baldacci.
The Governor said he had talked to Bud Cianchette at the Cianbro Eastern Manufacturing Facility in Brewer. Cianbro has expanded its operations to include opportunities in the energy sector, as well. The Governor said that the continuing look to the future is characteristic of the Cianchette family and the business they built.
“I’ve known the Cianchette family for many years and have great respect for their accomplishments and for their dedication to the State of Maine,” said the Governor. “Bud and his family have contributed much to Maine. He is part of one of the great family stories of this State. I extend my prayers to Bud’s wife, Priscilla, their family, and to the family of employees of Cianbro.”
