US Route 1A in Hampden Opens Ahead of Schedule
Hampden – US Route 1A in Hampden is back open to all traffic three days ahead of schedule.
Crews are performing a full reconstruction of Route 1A on North Main Street until the end of November. On Monday, August 13th, the stretch of road between Wheeldon Street and the R&K Variety Store was closed to traffic for the purpose of replacing a culvert located in a deep gully. Multiple detour signs guided motorists away from the work zone for five days.
Due to the hard work and coordination of MaineDOT crews and Sitewerx Inc. of Hermon, the culvert replacement project was finished ahead of schedule.
