Home > Education News > Press Releases Governor, education commissioner announce forumsWill present Local Schools, Regional Support Initiative and answer questions January 22, 2007 AUGUSTA – Lewiston, North Berwick, Portland, and Bangor will be the first stops of a tour by Gov. John Baldacci and Education Commissioner Susan Gendron to bring the Local Schools Regional Support Initiative directly to the public. The LSRS Initiative is Gov. Baldacci’s plan for streamlining central office administration and shifting resources to the classroom for academic excellence. There will be time for questions from the community. Commissioner Gendron will participate in all four forums; Gov. Baldacci will address all but the Berwick forum. Additional forums will be scheduled and will be announced as details are finalized.
