Colonial Pemaquid Archaeological Dig Postponed One Week

(July 15, 2011)

AUGUSTA, Maine – For logistical reasons, the planned archaeological dig at Colonial Pemaquid, originally scheduled for the week of July 18-23, has been postponed one week to the week of July 25-29.

Also, due to the overwhelming response to the call for volunteers, we are asking potential volunteers to register by calling Parks Historian Tom Desjardin at (207) 416-2230 (cell phone).

The revised details of the dig are:

  • Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site annual archaeological dig, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 25-29.

  • Media representatives are invited to visit 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Wednesday, July 27. The public also is invited to visit the site during dig hours.

For more information and to volunteer for the dig, contact Tom Desjardin, historian, Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands, at (207) 416-2230.
