Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program Expands Services to Women Age 35-39

AUGUSTA – The Maine Department of Health and Human Services is pleased to announce that the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program (MBCHP), part of the Department’s Maine CDC, is now providing services to women age 35-39.

To qualify, a woman must:

  • have seen a doctor, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant.
  • need follow-up tests for either a possible breast cancer, an abnormal Pap test, OR not had a Pap test in 5 or more years.
  • either have no health insurance, health insurance that does not cover mammograms or Pap tests, or have insurance with a high deductible.
  • meet income guidelines (250% of federal poverty level).

The MBCHP is able to provide these additional services with assistance from the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Maine Affiliate. The program continues to provide free Pap tests and mammograms to women age 40 and older that meet health insurance and income guidelines.
