 Shortbread Cookies
- 3/4 cup of butter
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Mix softened butter and sugar in a large bowl.
- Stir in the flour (If the dough is crumbly, mix in 1 to 2 tablespoons of softened butter.)
- Roll dough 1/2 inch thick on lightly floured surface.
- Note: Spray cookie cutter with cooking spray. Cut into shapes with cookie cutter.
- Place 1/2 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake about 20 minutes or until set.
- Immediately remove from cookie sheet to a wire cookie rack.
- Serve these buttery cookies plain or frost them with Maple Frosting using Maine Maple Syrup (recipe under Maine Maple Glaze).
