Anaerobic Digester Tour Scheduled

You’ll even get to see robotic milkers.

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension, the Maine Department of Agriculture, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service have teamed up to conduct an Anaerobic Digester Tour of Vermont farms. Anaerobic digesters can harness energy from the decomposition of organic matter and transform it into energy to lessen dependence on fossil fuels.

The tour will be conducted on April 10-11. Participant will visit several farms using different types of anaerobic digesters and learn Vermont’s experience with digesters. Pre-registration is required. Trip registration is $35.00 per person. In addition, tour participants must make their own hotel reservations. For more information, contact Mark Hutchinson, Extension Educator, at (207) 832-0343 or (800) 244-2104 in Maine.
