The essence of this part of the document is student empowerment.

A belief in liberty, equality. . .are essential to making a difference in society

 

3.Cross- Cutting ideas

This was dropped in favor of identifying “Big Ideas” that have surfaced in our conversationsand the resources that we have considered.  (See attached document)

 

4. The Hallmarks list.

 

Three important areas are identified in the hallmarks:  a.  attitudes and beliefs, b. civic and political knowledge and cognitive skills

c. political/community participation.

a bulleted and prioritized list of  ‘Big Ideas’ regarding

civics education and a list of the resources
