Draft Plan for Campus Forums on Citizenship Education
- Fall 2005
Potential Outcomes:
· Increased campus understanding of their role in citizenship education
· Increased campus enthusiasm for citizenship education
· Follow up plans from campuses about improving/increasing citizenship education
· Publication of best practices and policies supporting citizenship education
Time line:
Campuses would be provided with information on best practices and policies and some framework for the forums prior to forums.
· Best practices defined by Subcommittee – Jan. mtg
· Gathering of best practice examples – 2-3 months
· Production of best practice pub (video, web, booklet?) – 2-3 months
Subcommittee with explore and select a model for conduction the Campus Forums
· Send Mark, Amanda, Holly and Tamara to explore Public Policy Forums at the New England Center for Civic Life
Campuses would be lined up this spring and summer for fall forums, and might possibly be asked to participate in a grant program. Four to six campuses would be selected
· Write a request for proposals – 2 months , spring 2004
· Distribute to campuses – April, 2004
· Decide which campuses – before Mid May
Fall, 2005 through Spring, 2006. Forums would be held and campus plans for follow up would be put into place.
· Event advertisements – flyers, emails
Possibly some form of proceedings.
