at 12:30 p.m.
Secretary of State Dan A. Gwadosky will speak to the Lewiston/Auburn Rotary Club on Thursday, April 5, 2001 at the Ramada Inn located on Pleasant Street in Lewiston. Secretary Gwadosky’s topic will be Rapid Renewal: Online Vehicle Registration Renewal. His presentation will begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. In December 2000, Rapid Renewal, a new online service that allows Maine citizens in participating municipalities to renew their motor vehicle registration over the Internet was introduced in Bangor, Brunswick, China, Corinna, Hermon, Holden, Lewiston, Portland, Saco and Waterville. These ten municipalities worked in cooperation with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and InforME, the Information Resource of Maine, to develop the Rapid Renewal pilot project. Rapid Renewal is a voluntary
program for municipalities. Any municipality that would like to provide
this convenient alternative service to their citizens may now apply to
become part of the program. This presentation on Rapid Renewal includes
an overview of the program, a demonstration of the Rapid Renewal service
and a general discussion of the impact of online services on citizens.
