Secretary of State Dan A. Gwadosky will announce a new online service on Monday, May 21, 2001 at the Brunswick Rotary meeting.  The Rotary meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m., with Secretary Gwadosky’s presentation beginning at approximately 12:45 p.m.

Interactive Corporate Services, the Department of the Secretary of State’s most recent e-Government service, is a new service that provides access to information on business entities that file documents with the Secretary of State.  This online service will be available to anyone with Internet access 24 hour a day, 7 days a week.  Interactive Corporate Services also allows copies of imaged documents, such as annual reports and articles of incorporation, as well as copies of certificates of good standing, to be printed at home or the office.  Secretary Gwadosky will demonstrate the new service.

While this service is available to anyone seeking information on business and nonprofit corporations, it is anticipated that the highest percentage of users will be attorneys, bankers and accountants seeking to confirm the formal organization of a business entity or to locate information on a corporation’s officers or registered agent.

Interactive Corporate Services allows a user to search the documents on file with the State of Maine for all business and non-profit corporations, trademarks, limited partnerships, as well as limited liability partnerships and corporations.  Basic information regarding each of these entities is available at no cost.  This information includes legal name, entity type, status, date of incorporation or filing, assumed and former names, and clerk/registered agent.  This information may be accessed and printed at no cost from the user's computer.

For additional information, such as plain or certified copies of filings (annual reports, articles of incorporation, amendments, etc.) and certificates of good standing and legal existence, the usual statutory fees apply and a subscription to InforME, the Information Resource of Maine, is required to process the request online and bill the user’s account for the services.
