Secretary of State Dan
A. Gwadosky and Bangor High School Students
Friday, January 19, 2001,
BANGOR--Secretary of State Dan A. Gwadosky will be leading a class of Bangor High School students in a discussion about the electoral process in the United States and voting laws, policies and practices in Maine. The students of Mr. Adam Leach, a history and government teacher at Bangor High School, will meet with Secretary Gwadosky to discuss the recent Presidential Election, how voting procedures vary from state to state, and what can and is being done to improve the electoral process in the United States.
The National Association of Secretaries of State, of which Secretary Gwadosky serves as Treasurer, has established a bi-partisan effort called the National Elections Standards Task Force. The Task Force will spearhead a top-level election reform effort to address outdated voting equipment and questionable elections practices. Joining the Secretaries of State in this effort are the National Association of State Election Directors and the Elections Center, an organization of local and state elections officials.
