Secretary of State and First Lady Kickoff
AUGUSTA, MAINE – Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap was joined by Maine’s First Lady, Karen Baldacci, on September 12th to kickoff the 2006 Maine State Employees Combined Charitable Appeal (MSECCA). A press conference was held in the Hall of Flags at the State House in Augusta.
Secretary of State Dunlap is serving as chair of the 2006 MSECCA campaign. He and the First Lady were on hand as information about the many charities benefiting from the campaign was shared with state employees, along with refreshments and door prizes.
The goal for this year’s MSECCA campaign, which will conclude in December with a celebration and awards luncheon, is $450,000. Last year, the campaign raised $451,686 in support of local, state, national and international charities. Thanks to the generosity of Maine state employees, more than $4 million has been contributed to charitable organizations through MSECCA since 1979.
“For more than a quarter of a century, Maine state employees have answered the call to help those in need by donating to hundreds of non-profit agencies through the Maine State Employees Combined Charitable Appeal (MSECCA),” Dunlap commented. “As a result, countless lives have been impacted in a very positive way. Our state, nation and international community have benefited greatly from the contributions of Maine state employees.”
The Maine State Employees Combined Charitable Appeal provides an easy and convenient way for state employees, and Maine state retirees, to support organizations that serve the needs of people across Maine, throughout the nation and around the world. The keys to the success of MSECCA are broad participation and individual commitment.
Additional information about the MSECCA campaign is available online at www.maine.gov/msecca. This website features an online contribution link—enabling individuals to make a donation at their convenience.
