Gwadosky reminded educators and students on Friday that the deadline for submitting applications to participate in Maine National History Day is March 15 th . Application and complete program details are available online at www.state.me.us/sos/arc/historyday/histhome.htm , or by calling 287-5791. Maine National History Day is an annual educational competition open to students in grades 6-12. Participating students explore a broad historical theme by preparing papers, projects or presentations. Designed to compliment classroom instruction, Maine National History Day adds a new dimension to teaching and learning history, and rewards student initiative, creativity and scholarship. The competition in Maine is organized through the Maine State Archives, and conducted in cooperation with National History Day. Maine 's competition will be held in Augusta on April 8th , with finalists moving on to the National Finals in June.
