County Recount Completed
District Attorney in Prosecutorial District 7-- Washington and Hancock Counties

AUGUSTA--The recount for District Attorney in Prosecutorial District 7--Washington and Hancock Counties was completed today under the supervision of the Secretary of State's Office. Michael E. Povich (R) of Ellsworth remained the winner and, by agreement of the candidates, retained his election night vote total of 23,046. The recount determined that Steven A. Juskewitch (R) of Dedham, a write-in candidate, received 4,380 votes, with 458 ballots in dispute. The disputed ballots were not sufficient to determine the outcome of the election. Disputed ballots in county races are referred to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court for a final determination of the election if there are enough disputed ballots to affect the outcome.
