Secretary Gwadosky Announces Changes
AUGUSTA--Secretary of State Dan A. Gwadosky announced today that beginning on April 1, 2002, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) will be adjusting hours at its mobile unit locations to better serve Maine citizens. These hour and day changes will affect the following municipalities: Ashland, Bridgton, Danforth, Dover-Foxcroft, Machias and Millinocket. Mobile Unit teams currently visit 26 municipalities across the state on a rotating schedule to provide driver license and state identification card services to Maine citizens. (A list of all mobile unit locations and branch offices is attached.)
"We are continually looking for ways to increase the number of hours and locations where Maine citizens can renew their driver's licenses,' said Secretary Gwadosky. "We hope this adjustment in the mobile unit schedule will provide improved services at those locations."
The changes in times for the effected municipalities are listed below. Pittsfield's hours will remain the same, but will be receiving a mobile unit visit on a different day of the week.
In addition to the branch offices and mobile units, driver license renewals may also be processed at 6 Rite Aid Stores across the state. With their expanded hours, the Rite Aid Stores provide people with another option for renewing their driver's license. A complete list of these motor vehicle agency locations can be found at www.state.me.us/sos/bmv/locations.
