October 7, 2002 ***MEDIA ADVISORY*** Maine's Vote America
Kickoff at Maine Mall Event will include opportunities
to: Maine Secretary of State Dan A. Gwadosky will kickoff the state's new Vote America web site at the Maine Mall's Garden Court on Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. The Vote America web site is part of a national program adopted by the National Association of Secretaries of State. The new web site can be located at www.maine.gov/voteamerica. WBLM radio personality Mark Persky will join in the activities. "Maine's Vote America web site provides voter information in a more intuitive way," stated Secretary Gwadosky. "Easy to follow questions, such as How do I Register? Who can Vote? and Where do I Vote? provide a wealth of election information to Maine citizens in a user friendly format. Additionally, the e-Vote Cards are a fun way to use technology to encourage people to vote on Election Day." The Vote America initiative brings together a number of programs sponsored by the Department of the Secretary of State under one convenient web site location. The site also contains a new program--e-Vote Cards. E-Vote Cards provide Maine citizens with an interactive and fun way to remind their friends and family to vote on Election Day. While e-vote cards are as easy to use as e-mail, they look more like a postcard. Seven different designs are available to help express your own personal 'remember to vote' message. A computer will be available at the Maine Mall during the event to demonstrate the new program and allow people to send an e-vote card. Additional activities will also be offered
during the Maine Mall kickoff, including providing shoppers with an
opportunity to register to vote; to obtain a personalized Vote in Honor
of a Veteran button; or to purchase a copy of Maine Remembers Those
Who Served. |
