CHAPTER 1: Rules and Regulations for Physicians
STATUTORY AUTHORITY: 32 M.R.S.A. 3269(7) (10), 3280
PURPOSE: Chapter 1 will be amended to make technical revisions.
ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE: Begin July 2008.
AFFECTED PARTIES: Any person applying for or renewing medical licensure as well as citizens seeking medical services will be affected.
CONSENSUS-BASED RULE DEVELOPMENT: Not contemplated

CHAPTER 2: Physician Assistants
STATUTORY AUTHORITY: 32 M.R.S.A. 3269(7) and 3270-A, B & C
PURPOSE: Chapter 2 will be amended to make technical revisions.
ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE: Begin Nov 2008
AFFECTED PARTIES: Any person applying for or renewing a physician assistant license as well as citizens seeking medical services will be affected.

CHAPTER 11: Use of Controlled Substances for Treatment of Pain
STATUTORY AUTHORITY: Title 32 M.R.S.A. 2562 and 3269(3)7)
PURPOSE: Anticipated changes to comply with clinical practice.
ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE: Begin Unknown

Proposed New Rule

CHAPTER 4: Rules for the Issuance of Citations
STATUTORY AUTHORITY: Title 10 MRSA 8003-E; 32 MRSA 3269(7)
PURPOSE: Chapter 4 lists the violations for which a citation and administration fine may be issued, describes the licensee's right to request a hearing, and describes the time and manner in which the fine must be paid.
ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE: Begin April, 2009
AFFECTED PARTIES: Licensees of the Board of Licensure in Medicine
