Candidate Withdrawals After the June 11, 2002 Primary Election

Withdrawals
and Replacements Made by July 22, 2002: The deadline for candidates to withdraw is 5 p.m. on July 8, 2002 (the second Monday in July). The Secretary of State then declares a vacancy in that office and notifies the appropriate county or municipal political committee of the vacancy. The political committee can then call a caucus and nominate a replacement candidate. The deadline for the political committee to file the replacement nomination with the Secretary of State is 5 p.m. on July 22, 2002 (the fourth Monday in July). The Secretary of State will then place that replacement candidate's name on the November 5, 2002 General Election ballot as the nominee of the party. *
