Registering a Camper Trailer 

Purchased from a dealer:

    1.  Pay excise tax to your town office.  Excise tax is a municipal tax. Please contact your local municipal office for additional information.

  2.  Documents needed:

        a.   Green dealer's certificate (sales tax paid)
        b.   Blue title application (if over 3,000 lbs net weight)

  3.  Visit a BMV branch office if your municipality does not participate in our New Registration Program.

  4.  Pay the registration fee. Please click here for fee schedule. Camper trailers may only be registered for one year.

  5.  Vanity plates are available for an additional annual fee of $15.00. 


Private sale purchase:  

1.  Pay excise tax to your town office.  Excise tax is a municipal tax. Please contact your local municipal office for additional information.

  2.  Documents needed:

        a.   Signed bill of sale
        b.   Title, if model year 1987 or newer & over 3,000 lbs net weight, signed
             over to new owner.

  3.  Visit a BMV branch office if your municipality does not participate in our New Registration Program.

  4.  Pay sales tax (5 percent of the purchase price)

  5.  Pay the registration fee. Please click here for fee schedule. Camper trailers may only be issued for one year.

  6.  Vanity plates are available for an additional annual fee of $15.00.
