Locations and Hours
You may obtain registrations , plates, drivers licenses and state identification cards by visiting any of the branch offices listed below.
Some municipalities issue registrations and plates; check with your city or town to see if they participate in this program or refer to our listing of participating municipalities. If you choose to register your vehicle in your city or town, expect to pay a small, additional service charge (as allowed by law) for their courtesy.
We also provide licensing services through our mobile unit locations, listed below.

Licenses and State ID's Only. Closed all legal holidays.
Out-of-state license holders must convert license at a Motor Vehicle Branch Office
Remember: Bring two (2) forms of ID with you and check the hours for the site you will be visiting.
Before going to a Mobile Unit please check to see if you are eligible to renew your driver's license/ID online. Many other Motor Vehicle services are available online.
Notice: Effective immediately, the Mobile License Unit will no longer visit the South Berwick Mobile Unit site, formerly located at the First Parish Federated Church. The mobile unit will visit the Kittery location the 3rd Tuesday and following Wednesday of every month, as well as the York mobile unit site on the Thursday following the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Please refer to the below information for the hours of operation for the two alternate sites.
For immediate service, please visit the Kennebunk Motor Vehicle branch or the Springvale Motor Vehicle branch office location (locations provided above). If the closure of the mobile unit location causes undue hardship, please contact the Bureau's License Services unit at 624-9000, ext: 52114 to discuss the possibility of obtaining an extension on your driver's license.
