Electronic Notification of Insurance Cancellation, Termination or Lapses
As you are aware LD 1590 "An Act to Amend the Motor Vehicles Laws", includes a provision that delays the effective date of 29-A MRSA §1601-A which requires all insurers to electronically report to the Secretary of State when insurance coverage is terminated, lapsed or canceled for a vehicle that is registered in the state of Maine, to January 1, 2005. This bill was signed by the Governor on June 5, 2003 and is now Public Law 434. The effective date of 29-A MRSA §1601-A is January 1, 2005.
