Alfred Merrill Paying Bills Transcript

West Falmouth July 20/63

To Adjutant General Hodsdon,
Dear sir,
I received, some time in the winter or early spring a blank from your officer, which I was requested to fill out with such items of service informed by me as Orderly, as were included in the blank, the same to be sworn before a justice of the peace, all of which was done and the bill duly returned to your officer since which I have heard nothing from it. I would inquire if any information has been made for the payment of these bills, I will merely say that for all the labor, time, and money I spent as orderly sergeant, under recruiting officers, I have never received one cent.
Yours with respect,
Alfred Merrill
