Research at the Archives

New Search Room Hours: Beginning August 4th, our Search Room will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The permanently valuable records of State government are available in our Research Room. They include bills introduced in the Legislature, Governor's Executive Orders, election returns, deeds to and from the State of Maine, maps from the Land Office, vital statistics, federal census records from Maine up to 1920, county court records dating back to the 1600's, military records through World War I, Attorney General and State Supreme Court opinions, to name only a few.
