Research at the Archives

Research RoomThe permanently valuable records of State government are available in our Research Room. They include bills introduced in the Legislature, Governor's Executive Orders, election returns, deeds to and from the State of Maine, maps from the Land Office, vital statistics, federal census records from Maine up to 1920, county court records dating back to the 1600's, military records through World War I, Attorney General and State Supreme Court opinions, to name only a few.

Computer indexes to many of these records are available in the Research Room and online at Archives Interactive. Detailed descriptions of selected holdings are available in the University of Maine's URSUS Library Catalog. Additional descriptions will be added periodically.
