The Maine State Archives has about 95 million documents. With so many places that the information that you are looking for may be found, research can often a difficult task. Many of our indexes have been put on the Informe web page. Since that time we have completed several more indexes to help provide access to some of our holdings. While these have not been added to the Informe page, it is possible for you to download these indexes to your home computer to search. Help for your research might be in the information that could be found in the early Hancock County Court of Sessions, the many people and topics that were written about in letters to the Secretary of State, what railroad track layouts the Archives has, or information on men from Maine who enlisted during the Revolutionary War and for whom the Archives has pension or land grant applications, War of 1812 veterans , the Mexican War veterans or the men credited to Maine in the Civil War Navy. We have also added the next 5-year installment of the Executive Council 1836-1840 and the next 5-year installment in our Legislative Index for 1861-1865. This link will take you to our database page with more information on what can be found in these files and the links for the Databases for Downloading.
