Your Collections: A Planning and Resource Manual is a 200+ page
publication containing a detailed planning guide for developing mission
statements, collecting policies, collection evaluation and setting priorities.
An extensive directory of consultants, suppliers, and helpful organizations
(with e-mail and web sites where available) is supplemented with a bibliography,
sample policies, and readings*. The outstanding self-assessment guide,
created by the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Board, is an excellent
source of advice and guidance.
Maine Historical Records Advisory Board: Strategic Plan 1999-2004 is the latest version of a continuously evolving document and guide for the Board. The Plan provides direction for the Board and establishes priority areas for recommending funding support for its own grant program and for requests to the National Historical Publications and Records Commission. Management Services Division of the Maine State Archives for use by State
of Maine employees. It describes how the records management program
operates, what services are offered, and how to take advantage of these
services. Specific topics include how to write records retention
schedules; what is, and is not, an official State record; and how to use
the State Records Center's services. This is a Microsoft Word 97
