necesity Compells me to pen a few lines to you My son has not
been paid off for most 5 months and his pay is all that I have to
depend upon to help me support my familey I have been out of
money some time and have had to depend upon the Charity of
the people for help I have notified the selectmen several times
that my familey was suffering and I wanted help but have taken
no notice of it I do not no what to do if my son Can not be paid
I must have aid some other way or my Children will have to
starve to death I have 5 children

and a sick husband to take care of and I can not suport them
with out help when my son was paid regular once in two months
I could get a long quite Comfortable he is in the 5th Maine Regt
will you be so kind as to let me know if I can have aid till he is
paid and send me some money excuse my long letter
