Turner Aug. 2, 1862

Gov. Washburn,

Dear Sir

We have raised our full quota and some to spare. The
town voted to raise $3,000 above all other bounties
and pay $100 each to the 29 men. The town voted to raise
the money without a dessenting voice. I see you have
decided to appoint a man in each county whose duties are
indicated by a published circular and this is to inform you
that I should be pleased to accept the appointment in
Androscoggin County, provided such appointment would
not interfere with any of your plans.

Very Respectfully Yours,

Solon Chase
