Teachers and StudentsThe Maine State Archives offers several opportunities for teachers and students including the Maine National History Day contest. Includes bills introduced in the Legislature, Governor's Executive Orders, election returns, deeds to and from the State of Maine, maps from the Land Office, vital statistics, federal census records, court records, military records through World War I. Various Exhibits in the Maine State Archives past and present. Maine National History Day is an annual event for teachers and students interested in developing critical thinking skills and an understanding of the past through original research. Sesquicentennial for Schools Program As part of Maine’s commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the beginning of America’s Civil War, the Office of the Secretary of State has created the Sesquicentennial for Schools Program, presented by State Archivist, David Cheever. |
