Welcome to Maine's Cultural Resources Information Center
Technical Assistance
Looking for help with collections care or object conservation? Establishing organizational policies? Training staff? Finding information on how to start a museum? Tips on cultural stewardship? The Cultural Resources Information Center (CRIC) can help. We offer technical assistance to all of Maine's collecting institutions - museums, historical societies, historic sites, libraries, and archives.
Grants
Maine New Century Community Program Facilities Grants are now available! Deadlines are December 1, 2009 and May 1, 2010. Click on the Grant Opportunities link listed to the left for more information, guidelines and applications.
In addition to providing technical information, CRIC also serves as a clearinghouse for information on available grant programs, both in Maine and nationally.
Consultants
We also have information on available Museum and Historic Site Consultants, professional organizations, conferences and programs.
You can contact CRIC at 207-287-7591 or maine.cric@maine.gov. The office is staffed one day a week. We will do our best to get back to you as soon as we can, no matter when you call or email. Our mailing address is CRIC, #84 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04333-0084.
If you work for an archive, museum, historical society or library, you can also check out the information at Historical Records Caretakers. If you are a county, town, or city organization, you will find similar opportunities in the State Archives Local Government Records section.
CRIC is a collaborative project of The Maine State Museum and the Maine State Archives.
